Meet the artist of our Black Queer Power design: Rain Demetri Jorge 🎨

Rain is an interdisciplinary artist that creates works in Philadelphia and New Jersey. She originally concentrated on painting and illustration and expanded into sculpture and digital mediums. After she graduated from the University of the Arts, she began working as a carpenter for 5 years while working as a freelance artist intermittently. Although Rain is versatile and can produce a range of different artistic styles, she mostly depicts works inspired by "rubber hose" animation, animals and the surreal.

Her visual style combines vibrant colors, rhythmic compositions and bold line work to create whimsical landscapes and imaginary beasts. She explores lighthearted and grotesque subject matter and themes about symbiosis and dreams. Often characters appear to be distorted, mutated and highly expressive.

Rain has received her BFA from the University of the arts and is pursuing a degree in medical illustration. Her work has been featured with the Philadelphia Eagles, art institute Haus der Kulturen der Walt in Berlin and a mobile game company in England.
